Charu Suri
Charu Suri is a multi award-winning jazz pianist and composer who has forged a new sound in jazz by combining a trio with Sufi sounds and Indian ragas. Her raga improvisations have been heralded as "singular" by multi Grammy winning composer, Arturo O'Farrill. She is a proud voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammys) and became the first female Indian jazz composer to premier work at Carnegie Hall.
She has three albums to date: Lollipops for Breakfast, New American Songbook EP, and The Book of Ragas. Critics have praised her work : All About Jazz hailed her first album as, "An exceptionally fine debut" and her piano technique as "supple and lush"; and Skope Magazine called "The Book of Ragas" as a jazz sound they have never heard before, and a "truly ear-opening" experience.
Her work is available on CD, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, Google Play and more.
