D’contraCacho is a band made up of an eclectic mix of musicians, artists and surfers
that formed in a small seaside town on the Chilean pacific coast, La Serena.
These beginnings are what shaped their unique sound. Being heavily influenced by reggae and progressive rock they were able to fuse this with Chilean folklore and a sprinkling of Latin beats creating their own distinctive signature and genre.
Due to their common love of the ocean their lyrics are political yet positive. Singing about conserving nature and creating “Buena onda” (good vibes) for humanity. They have been petitioning against industrial pollution such as mining and charcoal thermoelectric stations that were threatening an environmentally rich part of the central northern coastline of Chile. An area rich in biodiversity and also known for their several world class surf breaks.
