Terry Blade
Chicago’s Terry Blade is a soul singer for the new generation, using his sultry baritone to explore taboo issues of sexuality and mental health in a rapidly changing world. Ignoring commercial trends, he instead embraces an artistic sound that fuses R&B with indie singer/songwriter influences, allowing him to express his individuality in a way that mainstream artists never can.
While his songs often speak to issues affecting the black and queer communities, the raw emotional truths he expresses have a universal appeal, with the ability to cause any individual to pause and reflect on life. An iconoclast in the making, his debut EP "Misery" suggests that he will be a constant presence in the underground for years to come.
Since releasing "Misery" on May 8, 2020, the EP has reached "gold" status on DistributeKings.com, receiving over 700,000 downloads, streams and views. Previously, Terry's debut single "The Unloveable," which was released on March 27, 2020, also reached "gold" status on DistributeKings.com, receiving over 500,000 downloads, streams, and views.
On May 31, 2020, Terry became the first artist to officially place in 3 different categories in the same month for the American Tracks Music Awards. Terry's "The Unloveable" placed as a finalist for best acoustic/folk song and as a semi-finalist for best lyrics video. Terry's rendition of "That's Alright Mama" placed as a semi-finalist for best cover song.
