Brent Hood is a versatile and experienced singer-songwriter, record producer & multi-instrumentalist. Born and raised in the northern English county of Cumbria, he first emerged on the scene in 2001, age 13, and fronted many punk & metal bands throughout his teenage years.
A self-taught musician; writing, producing & sharing his music on social media platforms since 2004, he worked with record labels & supported many signed acts on their UK tours.
After the release of his debut solo single in 2012, Brent went on to sign with a London based artist management company. He then released his 2nd single on the 1st April 2013 which led to a bigger, stronger fanbase, and was playlisted on BBC radio and other national & international stations. Producing more of a 'pop-rock' style of music to please his new management, they wanted his music to be 'current' and 'radio friendly'.
He collaborated with artists and producers from various genres outside of his usual style. A track called, 'Fill Me Up With Doubt', is a hip-hop style track, and the first song of Brent's that got played on BBC radio. The track featured his life-long friend and rapper, JPK, who co-wrote and recorded the track with Brent.
In late 2013, Brent split with his management as he felt their vision didn’t suit his brand and said they “tried to push me towards genres that I did not like", so he stayed true to himself and left the company.
After reforming his punk band, Break The Stereotype, in 2017, the band recorded a new self-titled EP, which was released on 1st June 2018, gaining critical acclaim. However, things once again turned sour & split again in late 2018.
After setting up a home studio in 2019 & publishing his music under his own small label ‘HOLD Recordings’, Brent has finished his new album, titled 'Call Me What You Want', which is out Friday 15th July 2022 on digital, CD & Vinyl.
