Electric Sol

“Just open your mind. Stay interested in stuff.”
― Betty White

Hailing from the Sonoran Desert, indie dance/pop five-piece Electric Sol embodies the freedom of the Great American Southwest. Independent, curious, open minded, and respectful, these quirky nerds love learning from each other’s wide-ranging life perspectives. In addition to sharing a passion for music and dancing, the Solmates have individual obsessions for things like chess, cooking, fitness, bell peppers, dogs, auto racing, mixology, and writing.

Electric Sol started out as a solo studio project by lead singer/songwriter Ed Sweet, who was writing a book about a band trying to make it big playing Native American casinos. He dropped the story but started making the music in the studio, and soon formed the band for live shows.

Always a writer, Ed Sweet won a contest early in his career that landed him a job at one of the biggest ad agencies in Chicago. He co-wrote and published Eat Your Art Out, Chicago, a guide to restaurants and bars that exhibit artwork in the Windy City, has ghostwritten six nonfiction/self-help books, and made a feature film about mid-market modeling agencies called How To Become Famous.

Ed sang a lot as a kid from age 4–8, performing at talent shows and singing The Star-Spangled Banner at Chicago Park District events. He was Mayor of his grade school, Student Government President in high school, and had dreams of becoming Mayor of Chicago one day.
