Saul Chessin

Saul Chessin has been fortunate enough to play his brand of soulful pop, R&B, acidjazz, & jazz and entertain audiences throughout the Western United States, and beyond. His original compositions offer a refreshing new sound; drawing from the soul of our collective musical history, and building on that to find something new, which can authentically express his thoughts and emotions. Some claim his sound is both vintage and current.

One important event that greatly influenced his musical trajectory was when Bonnie Bramlett (of Bonnie and Delaney) came into a pub where he was performing, and asked him if she could sit in for a set. Once she started singing, the place was transformed into a state of amazing energy, where an enthusiastic crowd could hardly contain themselves. It transformed his performance that night, and it transformed him forever.

Saul's influences through the years have been varied, and include the likes of Marvin Gaye, Jamiroquai, Prince, Robert Glasper, Sade, Justin Timberlake; etc. He listens and learns from these great artists, and from that finds his own voice and inspiration.
