Steve Tyson & The Train Rex
Steve Tyson, based in Byron Bay, Australia, has released four critically acclaimed records, the latest, “Banjo’s Last Ride”, with his touring band The Train Rex. A set of blues-infused contemporary folk songs, intimate story-telling one minute, swaggering alt.country the next.
Steve’s work has scored reviews such as these…
‘With Banjo’s Last Ride, Tyson delivers an album of powerful, passionate songcraft that is worthy of your time.’ (Loudmouth Mag)
‘…a master song craftsman with a nuanced lyrical touch and strong melodies. These are songs that are built to last’ (Courier Mail)
‘Tyson lets his ruined voice and lucid guitars do the talking.’ (The Australian)
‘Another masterpiece from a master songwriter’ (Trad & Now Mag)
Tyson was born into a fertile music scene in Brisbane, Australia. His earliest bands played in underground blues and r&b clubs whilst he was still at school. His two later projects, Rough Red and twentysevens, released nine albums over the past two and a half decades. Rough Red toured Europe six times, performing at major festivals including the Montreux Jazz Festival. The twentysevens were invited to tour the UK in 2006 as support act to Status Quo, playing 31 shows in 42 days at venues including Wembley Arena. Individually, he played in the Australian touring band for Chuck Berry.
